‘Ronnie’ Dunagan (2-11-12)

BALDWIN – Ronald “Ronnie” Wayman Dunagan, 63, died Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Habersham County Medical Center.

He was the son of Charlotte Starnes Dunagan of Gainesville and the late Gordon Dunagan. He was born January 16, 1949 in Hall County, having lived most of his life in Gainesville and Baldwin. He was a retired State Fire Marshal with the City of Gainesville, a United States Army Vietnam Veteran, having been awarded the Purple Heart, and attended Tates Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Dunagan was preceded in death by two sons, Jason and Clay Dunagan; and a brother Randy Dunagan.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife Wanda Whitfield Dunagan, Baldwin; stepsons and their wives, Michael and Brandi Mize, Baldwin, and Matthew and Jamie Mize, Panama City, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Pam Mauldin and the Rev. Jerry Mauldin, Gainesville; four grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Friday, February 17, at 2 p.m. at the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home with the Revs. Jerry Mauldin and Jerrell Beatty officiating.

The family will be at the home on Hwy. 105, Baldwin, and will receive friends at Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Friday, February 17, from 1 p.m. until the service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Eagle Ranch, P.O. Box 7200, Chestnut Mountain, GA 30502 in memory of Mr. Ronald “Ronnie” Wayman Dunagan.

Edith Beatty (2-11-12)

PENDERGRASS – Edith Louise Hayes Beatty, 88, died Saturday, February 11, 2012.

She was born in Walhalla, S.C., the daughter of the late Carl and Lessie Orr Hayes. Mrs. Beatty worked at Macklanburg-Duncan in Gainesville for 20 years and was a member of the Mountain Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her children, Lamar Beatty, Wayne Beatty and Glenda Johnson.

Survivors include grandchildren, David and Lisa Beatty, Pendergrass, Shayne and Kim Johnson, Baldwin, Buddy and Margaret Johnson, Pendergrass, and Andrea Lewis, Gainesville; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 17, at 11 a.m. at Mountain Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Graham officiating. The family will receive friends before the service. A private family interment will follow at a later time.

Louise Sauls (2-11-12)

WINDER – Louise W. Sauls, 88, died Saturday, February 11, 2012.

She was the daughter of the late Rufus and Alice Cross Wheeler. She was an inspector with Cherokee Manufacturing Company and was a member of Union Baptist Church. Mrs. Sauls was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Sauls.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Ron Hewatt, Faye and Jimmy Manders, Linda and Tommy Roberts, all of Winder, and Patsy and Donald Long, Rome; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Linda Sauls, Statham; 12 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 13, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, with Ronald Hewatt and the Rev. Rudy Camp officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

JEFFERSON – Lathan Freeman Banks, 85, died Saturday, February 11, 2012.

Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Homer and Sally Fields Banks. He was retired from the Jefferson Mills after 45 years of service and was a retired farmer as well. He was a member of the White Plains Baptist Church. Mr. Banks was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ivester; sisters, Frances Smith, KatherineAnne Banks; and brother, Darrell Banks.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Sykes Banks, Jefferson; daughters and son-in-law, Lynda Bruce and Donna and Randy Payton, all of Jefferson; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Gail Banks, Jefferson, James and Debi Banks, Talmo; brother, Ray Banks, Jefferson; sisters, Shirley Wilson and Nancy McNeal, both of Hoschton; 13 Grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one soon to be great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 13, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Cary Pittman, Mr. Jeffrey Bell and Mr. Larry Banks officiating. The burial will follow in the White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery with Kyle Banks, Dusty Banks, Eddie Stoyle, Wesley Payton, Travis Payton and Chad Wehunt honored as pallbearers.
